The latest on our Inter-Club Men’s teams is as follows:

Central Towns:
Following a very tight match against Millicent, Naas were in another battle this time against Edenderry in round 2. Again - Naas prevailed by the slimmest of margins.

Palmerstown House next.

All-Ireland Fourball:
Naas, managed by Noel O’Connor, won their round 2 match against Newbridge GC taking a vital away match which sealed the win. Up next is Mount Wolseley, date to be confirmed.

Duggan Cup:
A tough draw with Birr turned out to be a great match. Naas came under pressure at home losing 2 of the 3 matches, but 2 great away wins (and by sizeable margins) saw Johnny Fearon’s team take it 3/2. Into last 16 with Royal Curragh next up on June 23rd

South Leinster Trophy:
Mick Murphy’s men had a 4/3 winning start taking 2 matches away and 2 at home. This win was notable by the superb comeback by Alan Ryan – playing in Newbridge he found himself 6 down at the turn. However – he never threw in the towel and won 7 of the next 9 to clinch his match and the tie on the 18th green. A lesson to us all on perseverance.

Fred Daly:
This young team continue to shoot the lights out and won again this weekend in a tight match v. Roganstown. They have already accounted for Craddockstown, Highfield and Carton House. Well done panel and team manager, Eoin McCormack. Next up – Royal Dublin on June 16th. .

Straffan Cup:
Naas had a narrow 1st round win against Royal Curragh with Willie McNelis’s met winning the match with a closing birdie on the 18th. Up next is Smurfit GC to be played by June 30th

Irish Junior Foursomes:
Naas had an impressive win away to Waterford GC where the lads came back from an aggregate 7 down with 13 to play to snatch the win, following a barrage of birdies (6 in the closing stretch).

Naas has completed the group stage matches and stand a good chance of advancing. Seamus Rohan and team awaiting some other matches to conclude before final league positions will be known.

2019 Journey Over:

Barton Shield:
Regional qualifying in Millicent saw Naas qualify from strokeplay in 7th place and a match against a strong Carton House next morning. Carton’s team had a combined handicap of +10 and Naas eventually went down on 17th hole. Hard luck but also well done John Dunne and panel.

Pierce Purcell:
Hard luck to Kevin Whelan and team who gave it everything at regional qualifying in Castlewarden and missed out by just a few shots in the end.

Metropolitan Cup:
Winners in Round 1 against Lisheen Springs, we came unstuck against Palmerstown House who won 3 of the 5 matches played in Naas, and 2 away. Hard luck to the Team and Managers, Marty McDonald and Dave Prendergast.

Irish Mixed Foursomes:
Having come through round 1, Naas met a good Blessington Lakes team and failed to take an away match going down 3/2. Great effort by the panel and Conor & Kate Holmes.

Fred Perry Fourball:
Tough away drawn against Lucan and while taking our 2 home games, Lucan won their 3 at home. A good performance all round.

4th June 2019.
